Privacy
This page explains what this website collects and how it is used.
What we collect
When you send a message through the contact form, we receive what you enter: your name and email address and, if you choose to provide them, your phone number, your business name, the services you’re interested in, and your message.
How we use it
We use it to reply to you and, if you become a client, to work with you. We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list.
How messages reach us
Contact form messages are delivered to us by email through our website host, Cloudflare, and a copy is kept in our private office system, also run on Cloudflare, so we can follow up with you. It is private to the practice. If you’d like your message deleted, email us and we’ll delete it.
The assistant
The assistant on this website is automated. It is a computer program, not a person. It answers from our articles and from what we have told it about the practice, and what it says is general information, not tax, legal, or accounting advice.
When you ask it something, your message goes to our website host, Cloudflare, which runs the program that writes the reply. Cloudflare says it does not use what you write to train its models. Your conversation stays in your browser while the tab is open, so you can carry on from page to page, and it is gone when you close the tab. Apart from the two things below, nothing from it is saved on our side or logged.
First, so that no one visitor can use the assistant up, we count how many questions come from each internet connection in a day. The count is kept beside a scrambled form of the connection’s address, not the address itself, and old counts are cleared away as the assistant is used. Second, when a conversation opens with a short, common question, the assistant’s answer to it (not your message) is kept for two weeks, so the next person who asks gets it straight away. Nothing about who asked is kept with it.
Please don’t type Social Security, bank, or card numbers into it; a message that looks like it contains one is stopped in your browser before it is sent. If you choose “Send this to Casey”, the conversation, the name and email address you enter, and the page you sent it from are sent to us exactly like a contact form message.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn’t use advertising or analytics trackers. Cloudflare handles requests to the site and may set a strictly necessary cookie to protect it from abuse.
So that pages open quickly, and still open on a poor connection, your browser keeps a copy of this website’s pages on your device. The copy holds nothing about you and isn’t used to follow what you do.
Your choices
